Chasco K8 is identified as a Title I school as a part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is designated to support State and local school reform efforts tied to the challenging State academic standards to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on the effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support family engagement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with parents and family members a written parent and family engagement policy.
Chasco K8 will host the following events to build capacity for a strong family engagementto support a partnership among the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement.
Families are invited to come to the school to meet teachers, tour the campus and classrooms, receive bus passes, and car tags, and basic expectations for the new school year.
We invite you to come learn about our Title I program, including our parent and family engagement policy, schoolwide plan, curriculum and assessments.
Parent-teacher conferences promote a partnership between home and school, working together to ensure the child's success academically, socially, and emotionally. Parents can gain insights into their child's academic, social, and emotional development. Teachers share information on the child's achievements, areas for improvement, and strategies for support at home.
Write, call, or email teacher to request a conference.
Staff email directory is on our website under “Contact Us”
This is the plan that describes how Chasco K8 will provide opportunities to improve family engagement to support learning. The contributions and involvements of parents and family members to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This plan describes different ways that Chasco will support family engagement and how parents can plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home.
Chasco K8 invited all parents to attend our Title I Parent Input Meeting last spring to review and revise our parent engagement plan, budget, compact, and schoolwide plan. Additionally, parent input and comments regarding this plan are welcome during the school year. Please call our front office at 727-774-1300. All parent feedback received throughout the year and from the parent input meeting will be used to revise this plan the following school year. We also distribute an annual survey in February to ask parents for their feedback on this plan and on the use of funds for family engagement.
All students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families are encouraged to and fully participate in the opportunities described in this plan. Chasco K8 will provide full opportunity for the participation of parents and family members with limited English, with disabilities, and of migratory children.
This plan is sent home in the beginning of the year with the annual Title I letter. It is also available on our school’s website (chk8.pasco.k12.fl.us/). Additional copies will be available at the school.
Chasco K8 believes that family engagement means the participation of parents and family members in regular two-way, meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including ensuring that:
As a part of this plan, Chasco K8 and our families will develop a school parent compact. This is an agreement that parents, teachers, and students will develop that explains how parents and teachers will work together to ensure all students reach grade-level standards. The compacts will be updated annually based on feedback from parents, students, and teachers during the Title I family input meeting. The school-parent compacts also are shared with parents during parent teacher conferences.
Chasco K8 will take the following measures to promote and support parents and family members as an important foundation of the school. In order to strengthen the school and reach our school’s goal, we will:
